It's with incredibly heavy hearts that my partner and I have made the difficult decision to rehome our sweet Poppy. Despite our best efforts, her past trauma has made it challenging for her to adapt to city life.

🐶 Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer x Staffy (we think!)

🎂 Age: 13 Months

✂️ Desexed: Yes

💾 Microchipped: Yes

💉 Vaccinations: Up to date

📍 Location: Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

📚 Training: Basic commands like Sit, Down and Stay/Wait. Poppy is still learning to engage with her handler more frequently and display polite greetings to other dogs and humans.

Poppy is a beautiful dog who struggles with fear-based reactivity (non-aggressive). We've come to realise she would thrive in a quiet, semi-rural or farm type home where she can finally relax and feel safe. We believe she'd also benefit immensely from the companionship of a confident dog who could help her discover the joys of life. Her initial reaction to other unfamiliar dogs is to defend herself by using her big girl bark but we have observed her gain reassurance and confidence from her doggy friends. While Poppy is a sensitive girl, she is very loving and loves a snuggle and a scratch/pat on the couch. She sleeps soundly during the night in her crate, but if she could she would be on the bed in a heartbeat.

When Poppy is in an environment where she feels comfortable, she transforms into a completely different dog, where she is loving and goofy. Sadly, relocating to a low-traffic area isn't an option for us right now. We've tried numerous approaches to help her settle, but ultimately, she needs the right environment and time to heal.
