Samson in Otago is looking for a new home to retire to.

Samson is being desexed on the 21st and will not be able to go to his new family for ten days post surgery. He is only available to people in the SOUTH ISLAND - preference: Canty/Otago/Sthland. He will not be flown or sent on a pet bus anywhere. He needs to be collected or may be able to be dered.

Sam is incredibly biddable, easy going, goofy and a laid back dog. He needs play time and a 20–30-minute daily walk. He still plays like a puppy. At age 8 he doesn’t need huge mileage walks.

He’s okay with men, prefers women… is okay with children but not very interested in squeaky, young kids. He tolerates cats, ignores chooks, travels well in the car, walks on leash and collar or harness well. He has nice manners, can be boisterous in the morning. Thinks all people are probably his friends. Can cope with other dogs, but I am certain he’d love to be an only dog where he doesn’t have to share the attention and love with anyone else. It should be all his.

He will steal food if you give him a half chance.
Currently eating Royal canon, Butch, raw meat and eggs. He knows how to crack and clean out whole eggs.

For medical reasons I also want him to go where people are able to manage his weight, he can never be over 15-16kg. He does not deserve the stress of obesity (increased risk of diabetes, kidney failure or congested heart failure) in his advanced years. Trim and with a waist matters.

He would suit a retired older person or couple who have previously owned dogs. A properly fenced and secure section essential.

Sam has other details we can share with his new owners. He has a benign morning time cough (throat clearing) which is not illness but more habit. Vet notes and medical history available to his new family.
