Louie – Loving Toy Poodle Seeking a Quiet, Child-Free Home

We are very sadly looking for the right new home for our gorgeous boy Louie. This is not a decision we have made lightly, but we have realised that our busy household with three children simply isn’t the right environment for him.

Louie is a 2½-year-old male Toy Poodle. With his person, he is incredibly loving, loyal and affectionate. He will happily follow you around all day, loves cuddles and really just wants to be close to his owner. He is also very obedient and has excellent recall. We rurally and can have our gate/fence open without him attempting to wander or roam – he wants to stay where his person is.

He is generally a very quiet little dog and is also happy being left at home while you are at work.

The important part: Louie is not comfortable around children. We don’t know exactly what happened in his life before coming to us, but his behaviour suggests he has had a negative experience with children. He will avoid them, bark and growl if they approach him, and does not want them touching or patting him. Because of this, we will only consider a completely child-free home for Louie. This would also need to be a home where children are not regularly visiting.

He can also initially be standoffish with men, so he would particularly suit a woman living alone, an older person/couple, or another calm adult-only household where he can build trust at his own pace.

Interestingly, Louie has been wonderful with other animals. He has been incredibly accepting and caring with both our cat and our new puppy, and we have never seen him have an issue with other dogs.

In the right environment, Louie has so much love to give. We genuinely believe he would thrive in a quieter adult home where he can attach to his person, have plenty of cuddles and companionship, and not have the stress of children around him.

Finding the right home is far more important to us than finding a home quickly. We will be very selective about where he goes and would love to talk properly with anyone interested to make sure it is the right fit for Louie.
