Meet Cosmo!

Cosmo is a handsome 5 year old Shepherd/Huntaway (at a guess) cross rescued from Christchurch City Council Shelter in March 2022.

A few things to know about Cosmo:

Cosmo loves to have human interaction (he can be quite smoochy when he wants to be) but he does not like having pressure put on him and has shown tendencies to resource guard high value items such as toys and blankets. It's important that his adopters understand his calming and stress signals and will work at Cosmo's pace to make sure that he is comfortable. He will need plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation, alongside promotion of 'calm time' to help him settle.

Social skills: Cosmo enjoys his own space but will happily walk with another dog at distance once he is familiar, He gets a bit stressed in close proximity to them but happily ignores them at distance. He will need to be an only dog and will not be suitable for places like dog parks.

In the home: Cosmo does well when home alone, making him suitable for full-time workers. Cosmo is crate and toilet trained

Cats: Cosmo is not suitable to be rehomed with a cat.

Children: Cosmo would do well in an adult only home or a home with older (16+) dog savvy children.

Support: Cosmo will have a homing plan, and his new family will be supported by our experienced team and behaviour consultants to transition him to his new home
