Catahoula Puppy
Catahoula Puppy
12 weeks old
We have one NALC (National Association of Louisiana Catahoula) registered Pedigree male pup left out of our planned litter. This litter was for our own replacements. We are the only current NALC accredited and registered breeders of pedigree Catahoula's in New Zealand. He is solid black with brindle trim. Not all purebred Catahoula's are Merles / Leopards with blue or glass eyes.
Both parents are proven pig dogs and catch in both the native and pines. They are both medium to long-range. The sire is an import and is one of our current mains, he is from well-known pigdog working lines of both Australia and America. We bred the bitch ourselves. She is out of our old main and is a finder bailer.
Catahoula's are high-energy dogs. They are territorial, protective, very intelligent, and need a job, or they will find one that you wont like. Catahoula's also have very high prey drive and excel at tracking. They are a bailing dog, although some harder dogs hold. These traits often intensify at maturity, so proper socialization is a must. They are generally a hot nose dog, so track fresh scent, they also air and ground scent.
Catahoula's are the State dog of Louisiana and have been purebreds since the 1800's. He has been regularly wormed and had their first inoculations.
These pups are very forward, they are already stopping their littermates and bailing since weeks of age
