Border Collie Male
We are looking for a very special new home for our much loved Border Collie due to a change in our family circumstances.
He is a 6 year old red and white short haired Border Collie and we have had him since he was a puppy. This has not been an easy decision and we are only looking to rehome him if the right and truly suitable home comes along. Our goal is for him to have a better life than what we are currently able to give him.
He is happy, healthy, desexed and fully up to date with vaccinations. He is an in home dog and has always been part of our family. He currently sleeps inside at night at the foot of our bed and is settled in the home.
He has grown up around babies and young children and has always been great with them. He is also very good with other small dogs and has been living happily with our Jack Russell. Not suited to a house with cats.
Around the house he is quite relaxed and relatively docile for a Collie. He will bark when people approach the front door, or if he hears people over the fence, but otherwise he is calm and easy to with. He will also be very excitable when he first greets people but settles relatively quickly.
He enjoys his exercise and absolutely loves running and playing ball and fetch. He would happily play fetch all day if he could. He has been run on a running belt and really enjoys this, but unfortunately we no longer have the time to give him the regular exercise he deserves.
On the lead he pulls, so he requires someone with patience, we use a Halti harness which has been helping. When meeting other dogs on lead he can be a reactive, but this is easily managed by giving them some space. Off lead his recall is good, although he can get a bit over excited at times if lots of other people and dogs around, he will run over to them.
He has been trained with sit, down, stay, roll over, shake, around and speak. He is easy to train, the only thing we haven’t managed to nail is the walking.
He is not a working dog and we would not recommend him as a working Collie. He is very much a home pet who would suit a family or individual who has the time to give him regular exercise, play and companionship. He is content with one walk every couple of days as long as he has the space to roam and run outside at home.
We are looking for a committed and loving home where he will be treated as part of the family. Please only enquire if you feel you can genuinely offer him the time, care and lifestyle he deserves.
We are very happy to answer questions and would love to chat to the right people.
