Meet Walter a 18 week old kitten and one half of the Orana Park duo.

My sister Willow and I had quite the start to life. We were found in the big cats’ enclosure at Orana Park, which was a pretty scary place for two small kittens. Because of that, I can be a little suspicious at first. I like to take my time getting to know new people and new surroundings.

I’m not a big fan of being picked up just yet, but I absolutely love chin tickles, ear rubs and head scratches. Sometimes when you first approach me I might give a quick little hiss, but don’t take it personally. I’m usually purring about five seconds later once I realise you are there to give me attention.

Sudden movements or loud noises can make me a bit nervous, especially if my environment changes. I just need a calm home and patient humans who understand that building trust takes a little time.

At the moment my favourite sleeping spot is a shoebox with the lid on, which makes me feel safe and cosy.

When the sun goes down, that is when the fun begins. My sister and I often have evening play parties, chasing toys and each other around our room.

I would probably suit a quiet home without young children, or with older children who understand how to move calmly around cats. I haven’t been tested with other animals yet, so a home where I can settle in slowly would be ideal.
