Looking for a loving, quiet home for Nala.

We are sadly looking to re-home our beautiful girl, Nala, and this is something we’ve really struggled with. We love her dearly, but we’ve come to realise that our current home just isn’t the right environment for her.

Nala isn’t getting along with our dog or our young children; she spends a lot of her time hiding under/on our bed because she feels safest upstairs and away from our dog. She doesn’t like being picked up, but she absolutely loves affection on her own terms — she’ll happily come and curl up on your lap while you’re watching TV or even come and sleep on you.

Since moving into this house, her stress seems to have increased. Because she won’t come downstairs with the dog around, we have to leave a window open for her to access the upstairs area. Unfortunately, she has also started toileting on the children’s beds and carpet, and we’ve already had to replace two mattresses. She has recently started clawing at the carpet around the doorframes and stairs as well, causing damage to the rental property. We’ve provided her with scratching mats and a cat tower, but it hasn’t been enough.

We feel absolutely awful even considering re-homing her, but we have to be realistic about what’s best for Nala, our children, and the house we’re renting. We really believe she would be much happier in a quiet, child-free home with no other animals, ideally with someone who understands cats and is happy to give her space and let her come to them on her own terms.

She is fully desexed, microchipped and immunised.

We’re not looking to simply give her away to just anyone — finding the right, loving home is really important to us. If you know of a person or couple who might be a wonderful fit for Nala, please get in touch or share this post.
