Looking for a New Forever Home for Murphy
It breaks my heart to write this, but due to a recent change in circumstances, my family needs to find a new forever home for our beloved Murphy. My husband passed away recently, and with me needing to work more hours, I can no longer give Murphy the time and attention he truly deserves.
We adopted Murphy in January 2025 from the pound. Since then, he has been desexed, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is a Schnauzer cross and approximately 5–6 years old.
About Murphy:
Loves people and children (especially bonded with my boys, aged 5 and 7).
Loves car rides, playing, and being with his humans.
Thrives on attention and needs someone who is home often.
Crate trained and very food-motivated.
Gets along well with other dogs.
Can chase cats, but does interact playfully with very dog-friendly cats.
Has some past trauma from abuse, which has shown through since we’ve had him, so patience and understanding are important.
He is a fence-jumper, so a secure property with high fencing is essential.
Murphy is currently registered with the South Taranaki Council, and his registration will need to be transferred.
Important:
I am asking for an adoption fee.
His new family must be willing to allow me to view their property (either in person or by video) and provide regular updates on how he is doing.
This is not an easy decision—my children are devastated—but Murphy deserves the best home possible where he will be loved and safe.
If you are interested in welcoming Murphy into your family, please email me with information about yourself, your home, and your family.
