Hi everyone,

We are urgently looking for a new home for Penny, she is a senior cat who truly deserves a soft landing.

Penny hasn’t had the easiest life. She’s already been with three families. The first two had to move and couldn’t take her with them (we are one of them), and the third has young children, which simply wasn’t the right environment for her unfortunately. None of this is Penny’s fault... she’s just a cat who knows what she needs.

She’s a beautiful three-coloured girl with extra thumbs (yes, she has bonus toes ??). As a young cat she was constantly bullied by neighbouring cats on a farm, which is why she never learned to tolerate other cats. That part of her personality is set — she needs to be the only pet.

We adopted Penny while living in Titirangi, and she absolutely thrived there. She loved being close to the forest, spending time outdoors, and soaking up the quiet. She never hunted birds, but proudly caught mice, rats, and once even a stoat — clearly very pleased with herself.
Sadly, when we moved away, we had no choice but to place her into foster care.

About Penny:
• Senior, but still active and full of character (approx. 13-14 years)
• Loves sunshine and will always find the warmest spot in the house
• Enjoys spending a lot of time outside
• Hates cat flap doors — she wants free in-and-out access (we literally removed the flap for her ??)
• Has zero self-control around cats food, so meals need to be portioned
• Very affectionate and people-oriented, but particular about how she’s petted — she likes respect and clear boundaries

Penny would be perfect for a calm household — a couple or individual, no other pets, no young children, someone who enjoys a slower pace of life and understands cats with strong personalities.

She’s not a “plug-and-play” kitten. She’s a real cat with history, preferences, and a lot of love to give to the right person.
